After more than a decade of making the best of tough glasses for Mobile computing needs. Today Corning has revealed the toughest of its toughened glasses, Gorilla Glass 6, named Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. Corning claims that Victus can withstand falling from a height of 2 meters on a hard surface, whereas most competitive Tough Glasses fail when dropped from a height of 0.8 meters.
Dropping a phone results in either breaking of the glass or visible scratches on the glass reducing usability. That is why Corning has worked on improving both these functions of the glass reducing breakage and scratches.
Corning Gorilla Glass has been designed into more than 8 billion device of more than 45 major brands. Although Apple is a major investor in Corning, Samsung will be the first brand to adopt Corning Gorilla Glass Victus in the near future.
